Vincent Browne in conversation with Blindboy, on September 4, 2018 talks about the consequences of the capitalist mindset that allows people to control other’s lives. In 1945 the Irish government passed the Mental Treatment Act that was entirely inadequate. Following the passing of the Act, inspections did happen between 1945 and 1967 but none of the results of these inspections were published. The reports described appalling conditions in the mental hospitals. Large dormitories with beds less than a foot apart, no curtains, no privacy, no dignity.
